Unipart today announces it has launched a strategic partnership with Williams Grand Prix Technologies (WGPT), to deliver combined, cutting-edge capability for electrification across highly demanding sectors, with a primary focus on defence and marine applications.

The partnership brings together Unipart's significant manufacturing and supply chain excellence, including its advanced, full-scale battery production capability, with WGPT’s deep motorsport-derived expertise in high-performance engineering, energy systems, and physics-informed machine learning.

Unipart will support the manufacture of WGPT’s recently launched ES10M marine battery system, a modular high-performance energy storage system developed specifically for marine applications where energy density and performance are essential.

As many sectors rapidly transition toward hybrid and fully electric propulsion to meet stringent emissions standards, tactical quiet-running mandates and high-reliability operational requirements, the two British companies will provide an end-to-end industrialisation pathway. By combining WGPT's ability to design high-performing, safety-critical battery architectures (such as class-compliant maritime systems) with Unipart's robust, automotive-grade production capacity, the partnership will bridge the gap between initial prototyping and volume manufacturing.

Carol-Rose Burke CBE, Managing Director - Design, Manufacturing and Engineering at Unipart, said:

"Our strategic partnership with Williams Grand Prix Technologies marks an exciting step forward in accelerating sovereign UK electrification capability. This agreement is a natural evolution of our close relationship, built on the foundations of Hyperbat, which came under full Unipart ownership earlier this year.

By marrying WGPT’s elite engineering heritage with Unipart’s proven ability to manufacture complex electrified technologies at scale, we are positioned to deliver robust, high-performance battery systems for sectors where failure is not an option.

This collaboration enables us to take advanced energy concepts and industrialise them rapidly and reliably, ensuring our customers in critical sectors like defence and marine can transition to low-carbon technologies with greater confidence."

Selin Tur, Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Williams Grand Prix Technologies, said:

"In demanding environments like marine and defence, safety, performance, and reliability cannot be compromised. Historically, taking complex, high-specification energy storage systems from initial Formula 1-grade design through to scaled, commercial manufacturing has been a major hurdle. Partnering with Unipart allows us to seamlessly bridge this gap. We can now offer clients a complete package: our advanced engineering, simulation intelligence and machine-learning control systems combined with Unipart's world-class, certified manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure."
